25 Days of Loving My Spouse in December

25 Days of Loving My Spouse in December

Last year I was inspired by a 25 Day Advent Challenge that I thought we should give it a try in our home. We’re counting down the days until Christmas in a more meaningful way each year. Try my 25 days of loving my spouse in December with an Advent Wreath!

I found this remarkable little Advent wreath at Target and thought it would be nice to write a little spouse love note for each day in December, leading up to Christmas.

Cory and I each chose a different color notepad to write 25 things we are thankful about each other. 25 positive unique things we want to share with each other.

After folding up each little square, we filled each day with a note. I can’t wait to start tomorrow.

If you need ideas of how to get started, think about the following phrases:

  • I love you because….
  • I’m thankful for you because….
  • I’m so glad you….
  • You are so….

Here are also other advent wreath calendar ideas!

You can do this with the whole family, not just your spouse. Each person can take a different color notepad!

Think back to the year you’ve shared with your loved ones and come up with unique messages.

UPDATE: This year we created a gratitude jar and left it out on the counter all year long. It made it easy to throw in a note from time to time so that when December rolls around, 25 love notes were already written!

Do you and your spouse have a special holiday tradition for each other? I would love to hear in the comments below!

  1. Marriage is work. Midlife marriage can be hard work. Darling Husband and I love each other but after decades need things to remind us of the magic that’s still there. What a wonderful idea.

  2. I love this. And for long long many many reasons I won’t delve into here on your blog 🙂 I need to do this with my spouse

  3. Love this. After 24 years of marriage, my husband and I need reminders like this. It’s not that we don’t remember…not really. But we get so caught up in the day-to-day that we choose to just put it aside. Love this challenge. Thanks!

  4. Such a great idea! I work in another city and spend the weekdays away from my husband. We plan to open one each night while we are on the phone with each other. I added “I admire you because…” since there are so many traits my husband has that I admire and I forget to tell him!

    • That is wonderful to hear, I love the idea of not letting distance stop you from sparing your love note with each other.

  5. I’m making one this year. Each day I’m giving a gift of something small with a clever note like a pack of matches and a note that says “You light my fire!” or a cute magnet with a note that says “I’m stuck on you!”

  6. I’ve started one this year- I think it’s a great idea especially as mine will end with his birthday on Christmas Day.
