* studies have shown that pet owners have lower blood pressure

* having a pet fights depression
* cat owners have fewer strokes (isn’t that crazy?)
* when children grow up with a cat or dog, they develop stronger immunity

It’s definitely true for me. Every time I walk through the door, my kitty is waiting on the other side, pushing against the door, so happy to see me. I don’t get a greeting like that from anyone else! However stressed I’ve been feeling, it all seems to melt away as soon as I pick him up.

So, if you’ve been on the fence about adopting that adorable fluff puff, go for it! You aren’t just helping the animal, you are helping yourself!

  1. I am laughing because what I want to say: is my goldendoodle is my everything. Actually I will just say that 🙂 stress reliever, keeps me fit, keeps me company, and listens to all my bullsh*t 🙂

  2. I just lost my dearest companion of eight years, my Micah was everything to me. He was young dog when our eldest son was killed in a vehicle accident and Micah was the dog of our grief. He saw it all and was always there for us. We were bonded on a deep level. Three weeks ago today we let him go to eternal rest, he was suffering with a brain tumor. He hid his illness from me for as long as he could. I am lost. We have our son’s husky and three horribly spoiled cats – but I am missing my soul friend. I am pondering another dog. Micah was my emotional support canine – I knew he was the best anti-anxiety drug out there, but I had no idea how much he kept my anxiety manageable. I will keep pondering. We are foster parents for a German Shepherd rescue – just not sure I want something high drive again. Micah was Chow, Akita, and Malamute – just magnificent. I am chattering. Thank you for listening. I just miss my friend. Animals are angels in fur coats.

  3. We’re in the process of adopting our second foster hound. He’s in a rather destructive phase right now and my husband and I are getting frustrated. Yeah, pets do help with stress in the long run. Sometimes, in the short run, they cause it. We’ll get it together.
