“One more year cancer free!” After hearing these words from my dermatologist at my recent annual exam, I couldn’t have felt any better. It’s been almost 10 years now since I first had melanoma and I’m thankful I passed my exam. One more year cancer free is a blessing, and I continue to count them each year!
Normally at this heated summer time, I remind myself, and everyone the importance of sunscreen. Of course, other helpful preventative measures include hats, sunglasses, and umbrellas when in the sun. I, by no means, hide away inside the house, as I LOVE the sun, but I definitely don’t want that ‘you have cancer’ scare ever again. Melanoma does run in my family, and hellooo….I’m a paste-y white girl….but it doesn’t mean that those who don’t have a history of it, or those of you with gorgeous darker skin can’t get skin cancer, too.
I’ve gone through many sunscreens, and have favored the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunblock SPF 70. It applies smoothly, and feels super lightweight. Now, I can go out and safely enjoy the sun! I can’t stress enough on how important sunscreen is. Always remember to have an extra bottle in the car, or in your bag ready to go.
