If you ever watch HGTV’s television show “Fixer Upper”, you will immediately get a pretty accurate idea on who Joanna and Chip Gaines are, but their lives are SO MUCH MORE than that.

They are a married couple from Waco, Texas, and both truly have a heart of gold. They live on a 40-acre farm (a dream come true for them), are parents of four beautiful children, owners of multiple businesses in the area and are also in the show of “Fixer Upper”,. She is a designer and he does the construction part. Entrepreneurs and Host of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper”
What makes Joanna and Chip Gaines so unique?
First of all, they are honest-to-goodness transparent, hard-working people. What you see is what you get with them and what you see is pure loveliness and laughter.
They have a wonderful relationship with each other and it shows through their conversation and their work. Jojo, as Joanna is known, and Chip are such happy people that their joy spills out into everything they do. When Cory first said, ‘I found a new show you’re gonna love’, he was right! I think people are attracted to more than just their house designs on Fixer Upper. They are attracted to them as a family.

Flipping houses isn’t a walk in the park, but their knowledge and expertise, as well as their wonderful sense of humor, make it look like an easy feat.
Another way that the beauty and happiness on the inside comes out is through their designs. Joanna finds the most beautiful treasures to decorate homes and to make them special. Chip puts all of his effort to saving money for the families they work with and to get the best out of what they have.
Both Jojo and Chip create relationships with their clients. This makes work much easier, more efficient and it makes everyone happy because the lines of communication are open. They really listen to the families and try their best to meet their needs and then some! They are happy people and the love to make others happy as well.

There is one thing that I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that makes Jojo and Chip happy, and what they need to feed and grow their happiness….their farm. You may wonder why I “know” this, well, it’s because I can totally relate since we moved to our small 5-acre chicken farm 3 years ago. They love to go home to the beautiful space where they can kick back, relax, and work with their hands in their garden or with their animals.
Going back to the Basics
Nature is a huge component of grounding happiness for me and Jojo wrote in The Magnolia Story, “Being on a farm is something we both dreamed about, and in the hustle and bustle of our busy life, when I come back here to this place I love, it always takes me back to the basics. That’s why I go into the garden and work with my hands.”
Moving to our 5-acre chicken farm was the start of my path to happiness so I know why getting her hands dirty, planting fresh herbs, and enjoying the sounds of the farm animals brings such a sense of peace and happiness.
Joanna and Chip Gaines show sporadic things that they do with their children outdoors in nature on their show and their relationship is a breath of fresh air. They always put family first and love spending time together. Their four children, as well as Magnolia Market, make them smile and recharge. Some people feel drained with work. Jojo and Chip love what they do and are hard-workers, so they feel refreshed and recharged.
Finding Happiness in the Ugliness
The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines was published in 2016. It is an amazing and inspirational story. I really enjoyed reading it. The last two chapters really got to me and I loved a quote by Joanna. She says, “If you can’t find happiness in the ugliness, you’re not going to find it in the beauty either.” There is so much truth in that!
Following Jojo and Chip’s adventures have made me a better and happier person and I long for my happiness to be contagious, like theirs is to all those that watch them.

This is wonderful! I absolutely love their show and they seem like awesome people. I really want to read their book. I am trying to get back to basics by simplifying our life and routine. As a mom to 7 kiddos we can easily accumulate too much stuff… so being mindful of what we have is so important.
Yes! Decluttering is SUCH an awesome feeling. We did a LOT of decluttering when we moved a couple years ago and it’s been AMAZING to seem to have so much more space and time. Thanks so much for stopping by, Sasha!
