The International Day of Happiness (“Happiness Day”) was founded by United Nations adviser Jayme Illien on June 28, 2012, when all 193 member states of the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted UN resolution 66/281. This is a huge step for a world that so often has cruelty fill the news.

With the UN resolution, the Global Happiness site was created and a minister of happiness is appointed for the betterment of all those searching for a happier life! It’s an exciting time to see so many people across the world joining together to bring a smile and happiness to their fellow man (and woman).
The Global Happiness Organization is dedicated to bring happiness to all fellow beings. They focus on the future generations too make happiness the foundation of the next generation of leaders! With their dedication, happiness can be worldwide.
When we talk about happiness, I don’t refer to pleasures or momentary feelings. It’s the authentic, long-term happiness.

Celebrate The International Day of Happiness
You have the ability to bring happiness to others! Of course we can bring a smile to any face any day just by stepping outside of our comfort zone, but here are some other great idea:
- Celebrate this special day with free hugs
- Pay it forward with random acts of kindness
- Try adding meditation to your daily routine
- Visit a yoga studio to practice with others
- Read more of how others find happiness in their daily lives
- READ every happiness book you can get your hands onto!!
One of my favorite books is Broadcasting Happiness by Michelle Gielan! She is a great example of creating happiness for herself and others after finding herself at a low in life.
