The average human uses less than 10% of their brain on a daily basis. By deciding to feed your brain something new, you are taking a step outside of your comfort zone and activating brainwave activity that is currently dormant.
I’m so excited that we have reached step 19 – Feed your brain something new. As with all the other steps I stand with, this is one I do very often.
To be honest, we grow everyday, and the older we get, the wiser we become. It’s definitely important to feed your brain with something new, that way you are constantly learning, and can even improve on a new set of skills.
Feed Your Brain Something New
Find new stimulation. Try reading a book that is outside of your favorite genre. Promise yourself to listen to one hour of music every week that does not include the typical tunes you enjoy. Push your brain’s boundaries and mental fences to kick-start brainwave activity which is currently lying dormant. With the average human being using less than 10% of their brain on a regular basis, there is plenty of room for stimulation.

My husband and I often explore different kinds of instrumental music. It almost like meditation how it opens your mind.
This is a GREAT series! Plus your squares are well designed and eye catching : )
Thank you, Christina. Glad you enjoyed it. š
I’ve started using Duolingo to learn Spanish. It is certainly something new! Thanks for the gentle kick in the pants about switching my reading list.
I couldn’t agree more! I think we grow when we try new things. I am always doing this. Sometimes I do things just because I am scared to try it.
What a great reminder for me. I am currently reading a new book that is WAY outside of what I normally read – I’ll consider that brain food! š
Oh my gosh … this post is totally speaking to me! There is a book I have been interested in, but wouldn’t normally pick up so this is the perfect motivation for me! Thanks!
This is so necessary on so many levels. I try to read a variety of work and often I find a challenging piece online and read, think, evaluate and even write about it. On the physical side, my husband and I like to challenge ourselves with difficult trails. And yes there is always new music.
