The back is a delicate thing. Once you injure it, you may experience ongoing pain for years. My husband hurt his lower back a few years ago while working out and lifting heavy weights. Even until this day, he still has aching pain, and it just comes and goes. Of course, pain killers can help relieve the discomfort, but it’s something he has to live with for years.
Always take caution, whether you’re exercising, or at work doing heavy duty tasks. Sitting all day can affect you, too, so make sure you sit up in the best posture. Following these simple rules from WebMD -it will give you ideas in how to prevent back injuries, and protect your back no matter what you are doing.
When Lifting
* stand close to what you are lifting with feet shoulder-length apart
* lift with your legs, not your back
* don’t lift and twist
When Sitting
* sit in a chair with lumbar support or use a lumbar cushion
* sit close to your work, don’t lean over
* don’t slump
* get up for frequent breaks
When Standing
* wear comfortable shoes with support
* change your position often
Comfortable shoes are always a must for me since I tend to walk a lot more, and stay active at work. Remember to always take care of yourself for a healthier lifestyle.
