I’m learning each day to lead a healthier and simpler life. One good habit our mom’s may have taught us, but we often forget, is get a good night’s sleep. There are so many reason’s why you need more sleep each night to go about your daily functions.
1-It helps with our memory, creativity, focus, alertness and productivity each day.
2-We live longer and are less stressed.
3-It helps reduce inflammation according to health.com.
4-Physically we are stronger and more apt to have better workouts.
5-That darned forever issue of attempting to lose weight is sabotaged when we don’t get enough sleep.
If you have a tough time falling asleep or tossing and turning, there could be a number of issues you might have. Here are some suggestions to help you get that extra sleep time:
Cut out late-night caffeine.
Make sure your bedroom is dark and cozy.
Avoid scary movies
Don’t worry about your to-do list right before bed.
Avoid a heavy meal right before bed.
Drink wine sooner in the evening with dinner rather than late at night.
Try a light stretch before bed, maybe a few minutes of meditation.
Try a hot soak in the tub.
Dim the lights in your room and set your mind to think of sleep mode.
And most of all, leave your iPad, iPhone, and other such devices in the office where they belong.
