Book Club – Eat Pray Love

Book Club – Eat Pray Love

Last week our book club met again – this time to discuss Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. While not exactly a new book, most of us had not read it yet.

Our night started off with our host, Natalie, making the most yummy bruschetta I’ve ever eaten! Along with some Italian wine and cheese, we started our review of the book. Everyone loved Italy of course, and the ability to not worry about your pant-size and really enjoy food and life.

In ‘eat’ style, Natalie had pizza dough (3 types) along with what had to be at least 16 toppings for us to choose from as we made our own little pizzas. While the cheese began to melt in the oven, we continued our conversation into India. India was a mixed review, some enjoying it while others hated it. I personally think that this section was more enjoyable to those that could relate with Elizabeth as she discusses depression, divorce, and the sadder parts of her life. Carie stated that she found the spiritual reflection in India very interesting and a good reminder to all of us to be nicer to ourselves.

As we approached Indonesia and Love, Natalie brought out great Italian canoli’s and two flavors of gelato! Oh so yummy!

Book Club - Eat Pray Love was a very good book as we related our lives and enjoyed good food.

I find that some of the best aspects of book club and reviewing books is being able to relate to those in our lives and getting to know each other better. I love the girls in our book club and can’t wait as we discuss more books in the coming months.
