My Valentine this year came a bit early, but Cory and I celebrated at home with a simple dinner, and some yummy desserts! On Friday, I let him open his gift so that I could start baking my favorite ‘red velvet’ whoopie pies. His surprise also consisted of the super funny Zombieland on blu-ray. And last but not least, a panini cookbook to go with the pan he got at Christmas. (it was also a hint for him to start cooking more!) I actually made his favorite Panini for dinner as well, and he loved it.
Since we didn’t do anything fancy this year, my dining room table was set with my Christmas decorations. I’d figure the colors came pretty close to Valentine’s Day anyway, so there was no need to add extra decor.
I truly love my polka-dotted plates and cups. I’m such a big fan of colorful plating. It makes me happy, and livens up the mood!
And the end result…Whoopie Pies! I am surely one who does not bake, but when I do, it’s so delicious!! Cory is a big sweets person, so he devoured these goodies in seconds!
When it comes to Valentine’s Day, sometimes staying in is much better than going out. You can avoid all the traffic and noise while trying to make your reservation. Just simply relax at home with an easy dinner, dessert, wine, and a movie.
