As the holidays are upon us, our schedules are filled. It seems like keeping our time and home organized takes a back seat. But, I have found that being organized gives me more energy to make it through this busy time of year.

As part of book club next year, we will be reading The Happiness Project. I have already read the book and have incorporated many new thoughts into my daily life that make me happier.
The January topic is vitality and having more energy. One way to accomplish this is being better organized, which in turn makes you feel more prepared and ready. Having the motivation to be organized can be difficult. Often I like to start with decluttering.
Being Organized Gives Me More Energy
This can even apply to normal daily life, such as getting the Christmas tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving, which I often fail to do. One year I think I put the tree up on December 21st. This is so disappointing to me as I love the holidays. Cory has just resigned himself to the fact that once the tree is up, the lights are always on at night. I love looking at the twinkling lights.
Knowing that the house is decorated for the holidays and enjoying looking at the tree for an entire month, makes me happier. All it took was for me to set aside the Sunday after Thanksgiving to get it done. I put aside all other ‘to do’ items on my list (of never-ending items) and just got it done. And now I get to enjoy it every night and smile.

So I do my best to stay organized and reduce the clutter throughout my life. It takes only a couple minutes a day, but I feel so much better for weeks on end. Now I schedule time in to be sure my love of the holidays is displayed right after Thanksgiving.
