Mother’s Day comes once a year, and we celebrate moms all over the world. We shower them with love, flowers, and gifts. When it comes to me, I like to shower my mom with things she can use, books she can read, or things that make her want to try new activities. Here’s my Top 10 Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day.

Top 10 Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day
1. Homemade Brunch
Instead of going out and waiting in long lines, set up a nice brunch at home for mom. It’s more relaxing, and it’s quality time spent with family. Cook moms favorite dishes, decorate with pretty flowers, and don’t forget to beautifully plate the food. It makes all the difference.
2. Arrange Family Photos
I can’t stress enough about professional photography because this is where true and candid moments really shine. Schedule in advance a Family Photo Session with your mom and family. It gives all of you sweet memories you can cherish forever.
3. Personalized Cutting Board
Personalized cutting boards are one of many perfect gifts. Put your own message to remind mom how much she means to you every time she stirs it up in the kitchen, or prepping your favorite meal. This one is from The Cutting Board Shop on Etsy says it all. Be sure to order early so you have time to gift it when the day comes.
4. Gardening Tool Basket
Oh yes! For those of you who know me as a garden lover, this is great for mom, too. It can encourage her to start a small backyard garden, or if she already has one, the basket and tools come in handy when doing minor work in the yard, and picking fresh veggies and fruits. Spring time is perfect for starting a garden.
5. Jane Austen Novels
Who doesn’t love Jane Austen? Bring mom back to memories with these Classic Jane Austen novels, Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and more. Reading definitely refreshes the mind.
6. Fitness Tracker
I often think of my mom’s health, and see what will get her outside and be more active. This fitness tracker can be a source of motivation. It measures your daily walking distance, tracks your steps and calories. You can even buy one for yourself, and do this together with your mom. Not only will you spend time, but getting a little exercise along the way. ![]()
7. Recipe Tin
I loved this so much, I even bought one for myself. My mom makes some of the best dishes, and I try to follow in her footsteps. Get one of my favorite homemade recipes from my mom: BBQ Pastrami Sandwich. Having a recipe tin allows mom to store her recipes, family recipes, and more. It can also be something she passes along to you, and the grand-kids later on.
8. Teapot
Okay, how lovely is this teapot? Maybe mom can use an upgrade, and receive a more fancy pot. It makes a great centerpiece on the dining table, or counter top.
9. Ice Cream Maker
Yes! This can be something new for mom to do. What better way to spend time with her while creating your own ice cream recipes. I think an ice cream maker calls for family time, which is super fun and messy. 🙂
10. Heavy Duty Canvas Tote
Mom can always use a canvas tote. This one is perfect for picking up small items, and groceries, or just taking it with her when traveling.

Thank you, Becky! Ice cream maker looks like fun!
Even though my Mom died in 2007 at the age of 91, the thought of Mother’s Day without her crushes me. So rather than thinking in terms of what I would give her, I need to focus on how to nurture myself on that special day. I’ll do that by celebrating the things she valued – family, friendship, and a big slice of strawberry shortcake!
I’m so glad you shared this Stacia. I think it’s good to reminder to everyone that there are great ways to honor our mothers in ways besides gifts. And enjoying a slice of strawberry shortcake is fantastic!
This year I am giving the double whammy 🙂 The fitness tracker you mention and to the gift of my time. My parents are finally moving from my childhood home and while she tracks her steps I will help with the packing 🙂
That’s sweet Carla. Best of luck to the move. 🙂
Love the personalized cutting board! I should leave this out for my husband to see…LOL!
That’s a great idea, Patty.
Great ideas! Mother’s Day is right around the corner and I had not thought of what to give my mom. I am thinking a fitbit is an awesome idea! Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Thanks, Tomi! Glad you like these ideas.
There are some very nice ideas here, but they still don’t include what I want for Mother’s Day: Power Tools. Okay, I’m being a little snarky here and I apologize. But the bottom line is why do we assume our moms want all the nice stuff recommended? Our moms are as different as we are individually, and some of us want different things that we’re “supposed” to want. The best Mother’s Day gift is one that speaks to who our mother is and not what she’s supposed to be.
I agree. But sometimes people have a hard time figuring out what “mom wants.” It’s a guide to give them some ideas, and hopefully they will end up getting something to moms liking. Even if she doesn’t like it, there’s always gift receipts. 🙂 I will add Power tools to the list. Thank you for your insight.
